Powers and Abilities: Deuce has access to a range of elemental spells in canon, such as fire, water, ice and flora (wind, nature and thunder), and cosmic magic (dark energy.) He can use these spells to fight people and create elemental effects.
He's also known for his habit of summoning large metal cauldrons, much like what a classic witch would use. They are big enough to hide in and heavy enough to pin a person down. Deuce can summon multiples of these if need be.
Deuce also has a Signature Spell, a spell that is his and his alone. It's called Bet the Limit (Double Down in English). Using this spell, he can absorb multiple hits from an attack spell and then turn it against his attacker with the same amount of force. It's a powerful counter, but it relies on Deuce withstanding a lot of punishment.
Deuce also has many of the magic skills that would be expected of a first year student at his school, such as using a broom to fly, drawing objects to himself, alchemy, and other such skills. Basically anything you might imagine a mage's school would teach.
Magic is not without its drawbacks in Twisted Wonderland though. Any magic use generates something known as blot, a dangerous toxin. Over accumulation of it can cause overblot. In this state a monster known as a phantom manifests and tethers to the victim, causing them to change appearance. The victim then goes berserk and becomes capable of powerful magic. They will keep attacking people and casting spells until they are either subdued or die. To mitigate blot, characters use mage stones, which can help filter blot, though they won't do away with the threat completely. Like most NRC students, Deuce had a magic pen, which had a mage stone affixed to it. While he can still cast magic without a mage stone, it's a little riskier.
For nerfs if he regains his powers, I'm pretty willing to go with the blot drawback causing Deuce to hold back on using his magic, or whatever the mods prefer!

1. Who is the person your character is most bonded with from their canon, or who is someone they miss the most and why?
One of the people Deuce is closest to and will miss the most is Ace Trappola. The two bicker constantly but they are often together to the point where they are treated as a paired set. Cater calls them the nickname Adeuce, and Vil Schoenheit calls them Potato 1 and Potato 2.
They're roommates in the same dorm and are close friends with Grim and the protagonist and because of this have been drawn into many adventures. Deuce feels a sense of competitiveness towards Ace who is the smarter of the two but also lazier than Deuce. On top of that, Ace can often make harsh remarks towards him, though Deuce will give as good as he gets.
While the two of them will play at disliking each other, it's also obvious they are good friends at the end of the day. A good example can be seen during the white rabbit event. Deuce goes back to his hometown for the white rabbit festival along with a few other characters. Ace, who comes from the same country is unable to go and is noted to be upset. Deuce and Grim decide to get Ace a gift to "rub it in." To this end they deliberate long and hard on getting a watch that they know Ace will like instead of one he'd hate, in order to "pick on him."
This is a big thing at the heart of their relationship though. For all that Deuce and Ace bicker, it's also clear that they have a lot of fun doing it. They are a matched pair no matter what they say and it's going to be strange for Deuce to not see Ace every day.

Deuce's big fears are related to trying to be an honor student and his tendency to lose his temper. Deuce desperately wants to change, to not be the delinquent that made his mother cry. But he often has a tendency to explode into violence and then lament afterward. Our first introduction to his true side is when some students bump into him, causing Deuce to drop some eggs and break them. When they won't apologize, he blows up beating them and driving them off. When it's over, he expresses a deep sense of shame, berating himself to an extreme, even though the protag and Grim point out that it's fair to defend yourself when provoked.
We see this expressed at the end of Deuce's dream in book 7 where NRC is now a school of delinquents who regularly engage in brawls with each other. After it's over, Deuce fears the dream means he actually craves violence deep down.
While we see him make great strides to manage his temper in an appropriate way, Deuce still has a tendency to snap if pushed too far and because of this, he fears that his dreams of being an honor student will never come to pass.
3. What are their emotional, mental, and physical weaknesses and why?
Emotionally , Deuce has a harsh temper. He can snap violently, to the extent that he comes off as a different person. This led to him becoming a delinquent in middle school and severely interfering with his studies. Tying in with his temper, Deuce can be impulsive, sometimes making bad decisions without thinking them through.
Mentally, Deuce isn't the smartest guy around. He's a poor learner, struggling with math problems that are easy for his fellow first years. He's also very gullible and will often take things said to him at face value, such as when he decided to take sarcastic advice from Leona about talking to plants literally.
Physically, he's a normal, athletic teenage boy with all the weaknesses a regular human would have.
4. What discrepancies are there between their inner self (who they feel they are) and their outer self (how they present themselves to others)?
The image that Deuce presents is that of a serious young man who is hardworking, but not very bright. A bit of a troublemaker, but well meaning and an airhead. And these are very true aspects of his inner self too. His flashes of anger are so extreme that initially other characters described him as becoming a different person.
That said, internally, he's someone who feels like he still has a long way to go so that he can be the honor student he wants to be. There's a part of him that likes fighting and flying off the handle and Deuce hates this side of himself. Even when he's lashing out for justified reasons, he can be very hard on himself.
It should be noted that Deuce is pretty self aware of his flaws and regularly discusses his fears with close friends. At the end of the day he's very honest with himself. He's a pretty simple guy deep down.
5. What would make them happiest and why?
Being an honor student of course. Which is really repetitive, but that is what Deuce wants to be. He wants to get good grades and be the top of his class. To get praised by teachers and upperclassmen. To never make his mother cry again. Deuce wants to change for the better and leave behind the past he isn't proud of. To never be that angry middle schooler again. Even though the road might be harder for him than most, he's determined to see it through.
6. What characteristics does someone need to have to be your character's ideal significant other?
The character is 16 and when the romance question came up in canon, he didn't have much to say. But as for friends, he likes people he shares interests with and can also compete with. Someone who he can be an equal with but also strive to push past.
He also likes people he trusts with and connects with. He calls the protag his best friend at one point, though he quickly gets embarrassed and pulls back on it.
7. Would your character make a sacrifice to save someone else and why or why not?
He'd probably say no, because he's a character from the villain's world, but in practice he would go to great lengths for others. We've seen him go as far as giving his Signature Spell to Azul during glorious masquerade despite the other being untrustworthy. But Deuce knew this was what needed to be done to save the day.
He was also willing to risk fighting Riddle in book 7 despite how dangerous the battle would be. Deuce always shows incredible courage when it comes to people he cares about. Deuce will do what he thinks is right and that includes standing up for the people he cares for.
8. What is one thing they would tell their younger self if they had the chance, or if your character is young, what is one thing they would want their older self to remember?
Deuce would tell his younger self to act better and actually go to school. That he's hurting his mom and he's going to regret falling behind in his studies. He'd say they're going to Night Raven College one day and they need to be ready for it. And that they should be proud of themselves for getting into such an amazing school.
He'd want his past self to know that there is something to hope for in the future.
9. When in dire circumstances does your character fight, flee, freeze or fawn and how does that look?
Depending on what's happening, Deuce might freeze for a moment, but otherwise his instinct is to fight. He'll only run if the circumstances are that far beyond his control and if someone more authoritative forces him to.
This doesn't mean he's suicidal or stupid when it comes to fights he can't win, but Deuce will always do what it takes to help others or even defend his pride. He's a courageous person and if he thinks there's a chance he can help, he will. But if he can help more by running, he'll grudgingly flee.
10. Why did your character make the wish they did? This is Deuce's whole canon motivation. It's the thing he states he wants again and again. He wants to work hard and be an honor student. While he wants to do it on his own, a wish making it easier is very tempting for him. He struggles with school to the point when even barely passing a class can be a triumph for him. The impulse to wish for an easy fix would be too hard to ignore.
He also wants to be someone who won't make his mom cry. Someone she can be proud of. In light of his fears over succeeding, he'd also do it for her.
