A bounce castle? Yes that might be fun. It would also encourage more people to enter the fray.
I suppose we need to also consider the animals and their safety though. If the party becomes too rowdy they might panic.
[Those flamingos and hedgehogs are difficult enough to deal with during a regular unbirthday party. No need to see how much worse it can get.]
Of course. It was only a suggestion And honestly I think half of these guys would be terrible at it. Either too slow or too fast. Not enough guts either.
I would suggest horseback riding instead, but I'm not an expert at it like you are.
That's an excellent point. The point of this event is to foster togetherness and a sense of unity within our dorm. Just as the Queen's card soldiers were dedicated to her and to each other, I want Heartslabyul's image to be one of loyalty to our house and to our philosophy of severity. Everyone in this house was chosen because they either are, or have the capacity to be wholly dedicated to something. For some of us, it's our academics, and others, it's to their precious people.
It's my job as prefect, as queen, to see to it that everyone here thrives and finds whatever it is they are willing to go to the extreme for. I also want everyone to extend that dedication to each other.
[ thanks for the unsolicited lecture, riddle. though, deep down, he knows he was only explaining all this for his own sake. deep down, he's still at odds with the ideals mama instilled in him and the wishes he has in his own heart-- some decisions are easier than others. this is something he wants though. heartslabyul deserves something nice after all he's put it through.
what's nicer than a giant drunk rock & roll party???? Nothing, That's What. ]
...Anyway. I'll have a bounce castle brought in, and we'll need to think of something that can be used to attack, but not cause grievous injury. Toy guns? They didn't use guns in old Wonderland though...
Hopefully after this event, our residents gain more guts. Not that I want everyone causing trouble, of course, but a little extra fortitude never hurt anyone. As for the horses, some wouldn't take well to being ridden by strangers anyway.
What about tricycles? Or bicycles with training wheels?
I think it is! Despite everything I really do! Everyone is dedicated to it. Or at least most of them are! They haven't left yet at least and that has to count for something!
Just know that as long as you continue on such a path, I will always support you!
[He sucks at this. But he does mean it sincerely. Having misspent most of his youth, Deuce wants to make up for lost time. Trying to become a model student wasn't just about not making his mother cry. It was about grasping the school life he had missed out on. Not that this is a normal school by any means.
And he means what he said. He can see that Riddle is also trying to change himself and that's something Deuce will always respect.]
We could always do some foam swords or clubs. That might be more appropriate. And it would let the guys get out their aggression safely.
Growing Grit is always a good thing. A few of our younger members are a bit soft.
That could work! That way those who do not know how to ride will not have to feel embarrassed if they fall. With some bells on maybe.
[The unbirthday party despite how serious it is, has an air or of whimsy to it. So the reverse unbirthday should have some of the same elements.]
Do you really think so? That's reassuring, honestly.
[ riddle sucks quite a bit himself, but deuce's words are a lot more than he thinks he deserves right now. all the more reason for him to continue on this path to betterment, right? ]
Thank you, Deuce. Truly. I'll do everything in my power to support you as well. Let's make the remainder of our school life as eventful and fulfilling as possible!
[ which is all well and good, but someone should probably tell these crazy boys that turning their friends loose in a bounce castle while black sabbath plays in the background probably isn't the best idea. ]
That's an amazing idea, Deuce! I agree, it's our duty to ensure our younger members are mentally and emotionally robust in order to make the most of their education. Foam swords and bats, tricycles with bells... And, what do you think about paintball guns? I overheard someone talking about those just now, they seem to be popular. Paintball guns and tricycle races in the maze would be chaotic, but I can think of fewer ways to build grit and fighting spirit!
[ it doesn't matter what deuce says, riddle is already putting in an order for paintball massacre artillery. ]
[Maybe it's because as strange as it sounds, Deuce can also see how a person could be lost in anger so easily. Even now, despite all his resolve, he still loses his temper, still picks fights even now with people and still fails to think things through.
So maybe because of that, he feels he should support Riddle, even just a little bit. Besides, that's what a student life is about, isn't it? Classmates being strong together.]
There is no more that needs to be said then. It's a man's promise!
[Don't worry. Someone more sensible is going to eventually get wind of this and stop them. It's only a matter of time anyways until Deuce texts Ace and Yuu about this great idea anyways.
...it's sad that Ace has more sense than him.]
Paint ball? Of course!
Of course we should do it!
Maybe this will go better than it did for me on Bean day.
But that aside I think it would also teach them teamwork and strategy. And bring a sense of unity to the dorm.
[He just wants to redeem his pathetic bean day loss.]
That's right... I can't say any of us brought honor to our dorm on Bean Day. We can use this opportunity to practice for next year. With the strength, grit, and guts they'll forge as a result of this party, next year's sophomores will be unstoppable come next Bean Day.
Well done with this brain storming session, Deuce. I didn't take you for someone so creative. Very impressive.
Yes that they shall, even if we end up on opposing teams. We will be prepared for it!
And I do not think I did that much. It's your wisdom that motivated me. And ultimately you're the one that will have to make sure it will be executed. I'm just throwing things out there to see what sticks.
When one Heartslabyul wins, we all win. After all, we are one house unified by our severity. When you think of it like that, so long as we prepare, Heartslabyul's victory is assured, isn't it?
Nonsense. I wouldn't have been able to come up with this idea, or flesh it out to this degree by myself. Truthfully, it's been difficult getting input from others as well. It's true that I'm the one who must see this through its execution, but
Well
It's a complicated thing. I won't bore you with something so tedious when the time would be better spent preparing for the future.
[ he just. really wants this party to be fun for everyone, and it really sounds like it will be. there's no way someone like him, who is so sheltered and serious, could have ever come up with anything like this on his own. that's way too heavy a topic for the current moment though, so for now riddle keeps his words to himself. ]
That it is. We are stronger than the other dorms when you put it that way.
And perhaps once they realize how receptive you are to listening, the others will be willing to brainstorm more next time. And you have been very helpful to me whenever I have asked.
[It was like Trey and Cater had said: Riddle could very kind when you approached him right. It just took a lot of nerve to approach him. Almost as much as Draconia...]
But you don't have to worry about boring me ever. I know I am not very smart, but I like to think I am a good listener. Only if you want to though.
[He wont push though. Not when it might ruin the good mood right now.]
I can only hope so. I really, truly do want everyone to succeed. Heartslabyul may be a den of eccentrics, but we are intelligent, determined, and I believe everyone who is sorted to this house has the capacity to be staunch in their beliefs. I value that just as much as the Queen of Hearts did.
[ riddle is apprehensive of sharing the next part, but decides not to hold back. there's no point, not when deuce was there when it happened, and he knows the first-year is a good person. ]
I just
I'm aware I must earn everyone's trust back after how I behaved over the last year. After that unbirthday party. I know I was bad. I just wish there was a more clear, simple way to do it.
I think we can, all of us. Succeed I mean. There might be a few more bumps in the road, but that's fine. Any setbacks we have will be together at least.
[He's not just saying it because it sounds good, but because he means it.
The next part though is a bit heavy and he has to think on how to respond.]
I don't know if I have an answer for that. I mean, you did nearly kill us, especially Ace. Which I didn't speak on much, since he had enough to say.
And well
I think maybe you are worrying too much over finding the right way to do it. There probably isn't a right way. Not really.
And I can only speak for myself in the end when I say that the slate is clean with me, as long as it never happens again.
[He's not even sure if he's expressing himself right or if he should be saying anything. But he knows what it's like to burn most of your bridges and to disappoint others that thoroughly. He spent all of middle school doing it.]
[ deuce is right about the first part, so not much more needs to be said on it. anyway, the rest of the other boy's message has his full attention, so it's not like he's completely in the right of mind to be offering more fired-up encouragement. deuce may be a dumb-dumb, but he has a really good heart, riddle notes. ]
I'm not used to working with things that don't have a concrete answer. Maybe you're right, however. Maybe there is no perfect way to navigate something like this...
It doesn't feel right to promise it will never happen again, because the transformation felt out of my control. I don't want to lie to you or break a promise. But I *can* promise that I'll do my best to prevent it.
Normally I would say if you punched me, I would attack you right back. But, since we've promised, I can trust you not to do such a thing without good reason.
A good queen should listen to their subjects. I want to start doing the same. Especially when they are as courageous and dependable as you are. Apply those qualities to your studies, and you'll be a model student in no time.
I'm pleased to hear that. Be sure you continue tempering yourself, and do the Queen of Hearts proud.
You're welcome, Deuce. It's getting to be a bit late, so I'm going to have some ice cream and go to sleep. Don't stay up for much longer yourself, alright?
